Girls Action group members celebrated the ‘Raksha Bandhan’ (in this festival sisters tie beautiful knots to their brothers’ wrist and take promise from their brothers to safeguard them against all troubles in life. Mr. R.S.Sindhu (Principal of Holy Child Sr. Sec. School, Hisar) was the chief Guest in this occasion. Cultural programme was organized and presented by GAG members.
Girls performed dance, role play for encouraging the audience to support the importance of daughters. Childreach India also organized a drawing compitition with the theme of “Female Feticide” and “Swachh Bharat” . There was also a talk about the significance of the festival, human rights and right of equality of women and their need in the community. The girl members then tied rakhi (colourful thread knot) to boys of the community and took the promise of respecting all women and girls in the community. The girls also asked their brothers not to take alcohol in life and engage in serving the people and their issues in the community.
